Seven Groningen-based academic startups from the UG and UMCG have made it into the top 40 of the Academic Startup Competition. This places the startups among the 40 most promising academic startups in our country.
The Academic Startup Competition is an initiative of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate, Techleap, Universities of the Netherlands, and NFU, among others, and aims to acknowledge and help the Netherlands’ most promising academic startups with taking the next step.
From top 40 to top 10
In the spring of 2025, the 40 startups will participate in a tailor-made programme in which they will develop their business case as well as their entrepreneurial skills under the guidance of experienced entrepreneurs, investors, and industry leaders. Ultimately, ten startups will be left to participate in ScaleNL’ s trade mission to Silicon Valley.
